Jekyll Island

We spent today on Jekyll Island, just off the Georgia coast.  Jekyll Island, it turns out, served as the winter home for the Vanderbilts and the Rockefellers way back when, sort of the southern Newport, Rhode Island, if you will.  It has beautiful beaches on the Atlantic side, as one would expect, but on the other side of the island, next to the Intracoastal waterway, are large homes ("cottages", they called them) and a beautiful clubhouse which now serves as a hotel.
