Key Largo

I like Key Largo.  It's laid back, and surrounded by nature.  Today started with laundry, I did a few crossword puzzles, and then we went kayaking and snorkeling!  It was a perfect lazy day.  Here is Lee snorkeling in the channel between the campground and the mangrove island across the water.

The water is warm, but just cool enough to be refreshing.  These water channels between mangrove islands are shallow, and filled with sea grass and lots of small fishes.  They serve as nurseries, that allow small fish to grow in a protected environment.  Lee and I kayaked in the same area, although went farther afield, staying in the deeper channels.

Our motor home is about 20 feet from a small beach, and on the other side of the beach is an osprey nest.  I can actually observe the ospreys from the front window of the RV, watching the parents come and go.  They keep an eye on any activity below, but it doesn't seem to bother them too much.  How wonderful to be so close, but in a way that allows each of us to go about our own activities without interference.

Lovely, lovely day.
